It has come to our attention that the committee nomination form included this section:

“Failure to undertake these tasks regularly will be seen as a failure to fulfil your obligations as a committee member and may result in your being asked to step down or dismissal as instructed by the Chairman.”

This is a massive overreach by the Chairman. The Constitution does not empower the Chairman to ask for a committee members resignation or dismiss a member from the Committee and is a clear demonstration of exactly the type of manipulation we are campaigning against.

As I am sure the Chairman will read this I will remind him of what the Constitution says about the removal of Committee members.
The constitution is clear on the ways a Committee member can lose their seat:
  1. By failing to be re-elected.
  2. By their seat being automatically vacated at the end of a 3 year term. (Clause 16)
  3. By resignation. (Clause 23)
  4. By failing to attend committee meetings (Clause 27)
  5. By holding a position with another supporter group. (Clause 29)
There is no provision for a duly elected committee member to be removed for any reason.
As is this is a clearly unconstitutional attempt to manipulate the election and control those who are elected we will be raising the issue with the Richmond Football Club Committee at the next Football Club Annual General Meeting.
