Richmond Cheer Squad Reform Group
Important Update
Statement from the Richmond Cheer Squad Reform Group
We have received an email from the football club acknowledging that they are aware of our concerns and “nearly all points raised have been or will be addressed before the start of the 2026 season”.
The Reform Group welcomes this development and the club taking a leading role in addressing our concerns.
Nominations for election to the committee are open.
We are pleased to note that nominations have been submitted for Marc Pearson and Fiona Frawley.
If you want to nominate for the committee, nominations close at midnight on Saturday 23rd (day of the round 24 Geelong game). Nomination forms are available from Gerard and completed forms should be returned to him.
Our Mission
“Our mission is to ensure that all members of the Richmond Cheer Squad are treated fairly and have equal access to all the benefits of membership”
Who are we?
We are a group of concerned Official Richmond Cheer Squad members who care a lot about our footy club and the Cheer Squad. The full list of our group organisers will be released in due course. For now we can say that the group includes Ken Woodward and Kurt Jones.
What do we want?
The current situation regarding the operation of the Cheer Squad and the protection of the members best interests is unclear and inadequate. Recently there have been several examples of the Cheer Squad making arbitrary decisions regarding members without due process.
We want to make sure the Cheer Squad operates fairly and transparently.
How will we do it?
At this years Annual General Meeting we will put forward a series of amendments to the Cheer Squad Constitution. The Constitution is the “rule book” by which the Cheer Squad is supposed to be run. It is a list of rules agreed upon by the members of the Cheer Squad themselves and is binding on all members of the Cheer Squad, including the Committee.
Information on our proposed Constitution can be found here.
